Resumption of Operations at the Veleslavín Campus
We would like to follow up on our previous updates regarding the incident at the Veleslavín campus and the associated power outage. Today, the campus was successfully reconnected to the electricity distribution network, the internal substation was brought back into operation, and power supply was restored to part of the campus. This is a significant step towards the gradual resumption of normal operations.
Technical and operational work will continue intensively over the weekend. Power supply to the individual parts of the campus needs to be gradually restored and checked, and the IT and data infrastructure, access control and security systems, and other technologies essential for the normal operation of the buildings need to be brought back into service. Cleaning and ventilation of the areas affected by the incident are also ongoing.
Provided that no unforeseen complications arise, we expect the dormitory to reopen and resident students to be able to return on Sunday, 18 October, in the evening. We expect normal operations across the campus to resume on Monday, 19 October 2026, from 7:00 a.m.
Until then, we ask staff and students not to enter the campus, except in genuinely essential cases and by prior arrangement. The restoration of the electricity supply does not in itself mean that normal campus operations have resumed. Technical inspections, cleaning and other work necessary to ensure that the campus can be safely reopened are still underway.
Once the campus reopens, some follow-up work will continue gradually alongside normal operations. This will primarily involve the restoration of parts of the buildings affected by the incident, particularly Pavilion E. Any local restrictions will be managed to minimise their impact on teaching and the day-to-day running of the Faculty.
We will publish further updates on the progress of the restoration work and the expected arrangements for reopening the campus on Saturday evening, 17 October 2026.
Thank you all for your patience, for complying with the emergency measures, and for your cooperation. Our special thanks also go to all staff members, technicians and other workers who have been working intensively to restore campus operations since the incident occurred.
