Prague Hosted the 18th European Congress of Adapted Physical Activity – EUCAPA 2026
From June 9-12, 2026, Prague hosted the 18th European Congress of Adapted Physical Activity (EUCAPA 2026), welcoming more than 200 registered participants from over 35 countries to the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University. Researchers, practitioners, and experts from around the world gathered to discuss current developments and future directions in adapted physical activity, inclusive physical education, parasport, rehabilitation, psychomotor interventions, and emerging technologies.
Held under the theme “APA Evolution: Honoring Our Past, Shaping Our Future,” the congress featured inspiring keynote lectures by leading figures in the field, including Martin Kudláček, Yves Vanlandewijck, Kristina Fagher, Natalia Morgulec-Adamowicz, Martin Vetter, Jeffrey Martin, and Ondřej Ješina.
The scientific program offered a wide range of sessions, workshops, and symposia covering topics such as inclusive physical education, Paralympic sport and classification, adapted aquatics, blind baseball, floor aerobics, the Feldenkrais Method, psychomotor interventions, and discussions with editors of leading academic journals in adapted physical activity.
Beyond its academic focus, EUCAPA 2026 also provided a vibrant social and experiential program. Participants enjoyed student movement performances, an interactive presentation by the organization Cesta za snem (“Journey to a Dream”) with the opportunity to try handcycling, a boccia tournament, an outdoor QR game in Divoká Šárka, social events, and numerous opportunities for networking and international collaboration.
The congress also hosted the EUFAPA General Assembly, during which new Executive Committee members were elected. Participants were introduced to upcoming events, including ISAPA 2027 in Jordan and EUCAPA 2028 in Norway.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all participants, speakers, partners, students, volunteers, and members of the organizing team for their enthusiasm, expertise, and collaborative spirit. Thanks to their contributions, Prague became the European hub of adapted physical activity for several inspiring days, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening international cooperation across the field.
