The Faculty at FISU World Forum 2026 in Sweden

Published: Sep 1, 2026

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of Charles University was represented at this year’s FISU World Forum, held in Östersund, Sweden. The international forum focused on the role of sport in higher education and its contribution to health, wellbeing, inclusion and the overall quality of university life.

The main theme of this year’s forum was “Active Body, Healthy Mind: How Impactful Sport Can Be at Universities.” The programme focused on three key areas: healthy campus environments as a foundation for wellbeing and excellence, university sport events as a means of promoting inclusivity and good governance, and creating dual-career-friendly universities for student-athletes.

An important part of the programme was the FISU Healthy Campus initiative, which supports higher education institutions in creating healthy, active and supportive environments for students and staff. The programme connects physical activity and sport with health, mental wellbeing, nutrition, sustainability and inclusion, with the aim of making wellbeing a natural part of university life.

Charles University is also actively involved in the FISU Healthy Campus programme and has been awarded the highest, Platinum level of FISU Healthy Campus certification. The Faculty makes a significant contribution to the programme through its expertise, education, research, and support for physical activity and sport.

The participation of a faculty representative in the FISU World Forum provided an opportunity to share experience, gain inspiration and build international cooperation in the fields of university sport, health and wellbeing. The Faculty was thus part of an international discussion on how sport can contribute to creating healthier, more inclusive and more successful environments in higher education.
