From 18 to 20 August 2026, a delegation from the Estonian Jõgevamaa Sports Association visited the Czech Republic. The three-day study visit gave the guests an opportunity to learn more about the Czech sports, education and sports organisation sectors. One of the main stops on their programme was the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University.

At the Faculty, we welcomed almost thirty representatives of the Estonian sports association. During their visit, we introduced them to the Faculty, its educational and research activities, and its successful international projects. The guests also toured the Faculty premises, while the programme included activities showcasing how sport and physical activity can be combined with an inspiring environment and opportunities for shared experiences.

Part of the programme took place at the Loděnice Troja Faculty sports complex, where the Estonian guests enjoyed a walk along the canal as well as a range of outdoor sports activities. The more adventurous participants also had the opportunity to try paddleboarding.

The visit to the Faculty was part of a broader programme that also included OLYMP Centre of the Ministry of the Interior and the Vysočina Arena. The Estonian delegation therefore had the opportunity to explore different aspects of the Czech sports environment – from education and research to high-performance sport and the operation of a modern sports centre.

The representatives of the Jõgevamaa Sports Association particularly appreciated the strong connection between education, research and practical sport at Charles University, as well as its international cooperation, lifelong learning activities and innovative approaches to combining physical activity and gaming. Visits to the other institutions offered further insight into the Czech high-performance sports system, cooperation with athletes and coaches, and the organisation of major sporting events.

We are delighted to have had the opportunity to share our experience in sport, education and the work of sports organisations with our Estonian colleagues. The study visit also demonstrated the value of international exchange and sharing experiences and inspiration for the further development of sport in both countries.
