The Erasmus+ Sport4Art project bridges the worlds of sports and the performing arts through an innovative dual-specialization programme for sports science students. In collaboration with partner institutions from Bulgaria, Spain, and France, Charles University is participating in the development of a unique international curriculum that combines theoretical instruction with creative, hands-on training focused on staging sports-themed performances.

During the project, students participate in joint educational activities, collaborate on stage performances on the topic “To the Planet Earth with Love,” and develop new skills applicable in the fields of sports, education, and culture. The programme also emphasizes digital transformation and sustainability and will culminate in an artistic performance that will be professionally filmed and released as a digital showcase of the students’ creativity and teamwork.

At Charles University, students at Faculty of Physical Education and Sport are actively participating in pilot courses focused on developing skills in stage performance and physical expression. These courses are closely related to the project’s final artistic presentation. The first pilot course, which took place during the 2024/2025 academic year, introduced students to the basics of sports performance art and concluded with the awarding of a certificate of participation. Another pilot course was held during the winter semester of 2025/2026.

Approximately 30 students participate in the activities, supported by the faculty members and staff from Department of Gymnastics and Combat Sports, who also contribute to the artistic and pedagogical development of the project.

The project also includes international partner meetings aimed at coordinating efforts and sharing best practices. The first meeting took place in 2023 in Sofia, Bulgaria, followed by meetings in 2024 in León, Spain, and in Prague, Czech Republic, which we hosted in February 2025. The final partner meeting will take place in Gannat (France) in the summer of 2026 and will coincide with the premiere of the student performance at the international Cultures du Monde Festival.
