Balance - Building Active Lifestyles and Fostering Cultural Engagement

BALANCE is a two-year Erasmus+ project coordinated by Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. The project addresses current challenges related to the lifestyles and mental health of young people. It brings together research findings, innovative educational approaches, and the voices of young people themselves.

The consortium brings together eight universities from seven countries

Czech Republic – Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (coordinator)
Slovakia – Comenius University in Bratislava
Finland – Kajaani University of Applied Sciences
France – University of Bordeaux
Spain – University of Málaga
Portugal – Polytechnic Institute of Santarém
Ukraine – Oles Honchar Dnipro National University
Spain – University of La Laguna

The project was officially launched in August 28, 2025, and activities began at an online kick-off meeting in September 30, 2025, attended by the students, educators, experts, and representatives of government agencies and sports organizations. You can read more about this event in our press release further down the page.

The project will lead to the creation of a European network of youth ambassadors who will serve as role models for their peers and share their experiences with healthy lifestyles and mental well-being. One of the first outcomes will be a report on young people’s needs in the areas of health and lifestyle. Based on these findings, educational materials, training sessions, and other activities will then be developed to directly address the identified needs.

The project will also include educational modules and materials that will be freely available online and will help teachers, coaches, and youth workers support the healthy development of young people. The project will also offer training and mentoring to help participants develop new skills and practical experience.

Local workshops and events will be held in all partner countries to directly involve young people in project activities and enable them to adopt healthier habits and an active lifestyle. Thanks to international collaboration and the online sharing of outcomes, the project’s results will remain available long after the project ends.
