Department of Athletics, Sports and Outdoors Activities
Within its educational, research, and public engagement activities, the department contributes to the development and promotion of the values and functions of athletics, outdoor stays, and outdoor sports in school physical education, organized sport, and leisure-time physical activities.
In the field of athletics, it emphasizes the health-related, conditioning, and competitive aspects of athletics across all age groups and performance levels of athletes. It also focuses on the structure of athletic performance, as well as the planning, management, and effectiveness of athletic training.
Department´s focus:
teaching full-time and part-time students in both sport and non-sport fields, including within the TŠ programme,
Outdoor activities are built on the foundations of natural human locomotion, which has always played a decisive role in human evolution in the search for habitats, hunting grounds, fighting and defence. Therefore, modern sport and recreational activities modifying natural human locomotion have long been spontaneously sought by a wide range of the population and in research activities. The Department is involved in providing education in sports specialization, conducts research activities and participates in lifelong learning and complementary faculty activities.
