The teaching of physiotherapy at Charles University FTVS began in 1982 as the first university-level programme in this field in the formal Czechoslovakia.
Department´s focus:
professional preparation of students for autonomous practice in health professions, focusing on health promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation,
The Department of Physiotherapy is a part of FTVS CU and helps to fulfil the strategic goals set by the Faculty within its educational, scientific, research, creative and complementary activities, including internationalisation and promotion.
The main objective is educational activities, especially in the Bachelor's degree programme Physiotherapy, Orthotist - Prosthetist and the follow-up Master's degree programme Applied Physiotherapy in both language variants, together with the provision of teaching including clinical and continuous practice.
The research plans of the department fulfill the plan of development of creative activity in the scientific field.

The Department of Physiotherapy provides the operation of a medical facility (physiotherapy outpatient clinic), whose founder is Charles University.
