Academic Senate

The Academic Senate of Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport deals with all fundamental matters concerning the activities of the faculty and decides on matters pursuant to Section 27 of the Higher Education Act.

What does it secure

Upon the proposal of the Dean, decides on the establishment, merger, consolidation, division, or dissolution of departments.

Approves proposals for the internal regulations of the Faculty.
Approves the allocation of the Faculty’s financial resources as submitted by the Dean and oversees their use.
Approves the annual report on the Faculty’s activities and the annual financial report submitted by the Dean.
Upon the proposal of the Dean, approves the admission requirements for each academic year.
Approves the Dean’s proposal for the appointment and dismissal of members of the Academic Council and the Disciplinary Board of the Faculty; amendments proposed by members of the Senate are inadmissible.
Adopts a resolution on the proposal for the appointment of the Dean, or proposes his/her dismissal from office.
Approves the Faculty’s long-term plan for educational, scientific, research, development, or other creative activities, prepared in accordance with the University’s long-term plan after discussion in the Faculty’s Academic Council. Proposals of the Dean concerning the establishment, merger, consolidation, division, or dissolution of departments, approval of the Faculty budget (letter c)), appointment and dismissal of members of the Academic Council, and approval of proposals for the Faculty’s internal regulations may either be approved or rejected by the Senate.
The Senate decides on proposals for the appointment or dismissal of the Dean by secret ballot.
